MLKCC recently announced its 2022-2023 Community Grant recipients for cycle 2.

1. S.T.O.P. INC.- a non- profit organization headquartered in Brazoria County. STOP’s mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors through public education, local community advocacy, staff training, school assemblies, peer support groups and parent workshops. The primary focus of S.T.O.P. is to educate as many students and educators on the signs and symptoms associated with teen suicide including mental health and develop peer to peer awareness that could save a life. This program started in 2018 reaching audiences across Brazoria County and Texas.

2. TRUE TO LIFE MINISTRIES-: LEVEL Up Summer Internship Program – a nonprofit organization in Brazoria County. Participants (recent high school graduates through age 25) will receive training and support necessary to gain employment in a four week internship program and receive a scholarship paid to institution of their choice. Participants will explore career interests and continue their education in their selected career path. Job readiness training, interview skills, resume building, customer service training, community service, communication skills improvement will also be addressed during the training.

3. Brazoria County Juneteenth Committee – A non-profit organization in Brazoria County to provide scholarships to local youth to continue their college education in their respective areas. During this celebration a parade and activities will be held to nurture and unify the African American communities in Brazoria County.

4. 20/20 Vision CDC
20/20 Vision CDC will take thirty-five youth (35) youth to a week long summer camp where they will be exposed to an environment that teaches leadership skills, team building, and conflict resolution. Exposure to such positive experiences increase the probability of positive productive young people.

5. Blessing In A Bowl Ministry
Blessing In A Bowl Ministry provides hot meals to individuals and families who are physically, mentally, of financially disabled. They attempt to assure anyone requesting or in need of a food will be fed a nutritious meal.

6. Ladies of Destiny
Ladies of Destiny support and celebrate the scholastic achievements of industrious students who aspire to pursue advanced education at accredited colleges or universities. They also provide services to the homeless, grieving families, senior citizens, and domestic violence survivors.
