LAKE JACKSON, JUNE 26, 2020: Freeport LNG Development L.P.™ and the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive officer (CEO), Michael Smith, have announced plans to contribute $1,000,000 payable over the next five years to the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee of Brazoria County, Inc. This donation is the largest the organization has received to date, and it will be received in increments of $200,000 per year starting in 2020.

The contribution will benefit the non-profit organization’s strategic programming efforts by continuing to provide scholarships to local high school seniors, sponsoring youth programs, addressing community relations initiatives, and other aspects of education in Brazoria County. Dr. King’s legacy remains paramount as the MLK Celebration Committee forges new pathways for education and a better understanding and appreciation of Dr. King’s legacy for all citizens of Brazoria County.

The MLKCC confirmed that the largest beneficiaries of the donation will be the students of Brazoria County as it continues to celebrate and support the teachings that peaceful and strategic change is healthy for the broader community.
