“Books, minds, and umbrellas only work if they are opened!”  This quote spoke volumes at the Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria 12th Annual Dream Camp that was held on July 10-14, 2023. The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the Poster and Essay Contest. Students from various schools throughout Brazoria County along with their parents, grandparents and other family members gathered on February 23 at Brazosport College. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both categories received a medal and a check from the MLKCC. The ActionS, Inc. of Brazoria County serves the needs of our senior citizens in Brazoria County. One of their annual projects is their Fans and Heaters donation. Over the past five years, MLKCC has donated fans to help with relief from rising temperatures during the summer. This year, MLKCC donated 40 fans to the annual project. Through its community outreach initiatives, The Martin Luther King Jr Celebration Committee prepare “Homeless Backpacks” to distribute to homeless individuals in the Brazosport Area and surrounding communities.
