“Books, minds, and umbrellas only work if they are opened!”  This quote spoke volumes at the Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria 12th Annual Dream Camp that was held on July 10-14, 2023. MLKCC recently announced its 2022-2023 Community Grant recipients for cycle 2. 1. S.T.O.P. INC.- a non- profit organization headquartered in Brazoria County. STOP’s mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors through public education, local community advocacy, staff training, school assemblies, peer support groups and parent workshops. The primary focus of S.T.O.P. is to educate as many students and educators on the signs and symptoms associated with teen suicide including mental health and develop peer to peer awareness that could save a life. The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the Poster and Essay Contest. Students from various schools throughout Brazoria County along with their parents, grandparents and other family members gathered on February 23 at Brazosport College. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both categories received a medal and a check from the MLKCC.
