“Books, minds, and umbrellas only work if they are opened!” This quote spoke volumes at the Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria 12th Annual Dream Camp that was held on July 10-14, 2023. The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee was right there to support the camp with a Book Fair. The MLKCC purchased books for grade levels 1st -8th grades that were written by various young-adult authors. MLKCC recently announced its 2022-2023 Community Grant recipients for cycle 2. 1. S.T.O.P. INC.- a non- profit organization headquartered in Brazoria County. STOP’s mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors through public education, local community advocacy, staff training, school assemblies, peer support groups and parent workshops. The primary focus of S.T.O.P. is to educate as many students and educators on the signs and symptoms associated with teen suicide including mental health and develop peer to peer awareness that could save a life.
