Congratulations to our 2024 Fall grant recipients!

  1. CANE Foundation – $1,000.00
    This organization recognizes the impact of literacy achievement on students’ overall well-being and academic success. The “Room 2 Read” project encourages the development of reading skills. This is a youth literacy initiative focused on exposing underserved families to community resources that can help to foster students’ success. The sessions are free of charge.
  2. Charlie Brown Initiative – $3,000.00
    This program will sponsor a youth essay competition for Brazoria County students at the Jr. and Sr. levels. It offers Brazoria County youth a platform to enhance their public speaking, oratory skills and social studies as they learn more about the history and legacy of Charlie Brown and the Honorable Nathan Haller.
  3. Wildcat Social Club – $2,500.00
    This club honors our community heroes (Teachers, First Responders, Freeport Police Dept, Fire Department/EMS, Veterans, Nurses, and Health Care Workers), by providing meals, gift baskets, and certificates of appreciation. They also provide scholarships to area high school graduate, assist Forster Care families, and visit local nursing homes to bring support and some needful items. continue their education.
  4. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. ,Rho Xi Chapter – $3,500.00
    Rho-Xi Christmas with Santa (Brazoria County) aids low-income families by creating a festive program to celebrate Christmas Holidays. They provide gifts to students (ages 6-18) who may not otherwise be able to celebrate the holiday due to financial constraints.
    The goal is to aid families that may be burdened with increased expenses and minimal resources to purchase gifts for their children. This program is a beacon of hope to those who are not as fortunate as others.
  5. Zion Temple CDC – $3,500.00
    The purpose of the “Helping Hands” program is to aid individuals and families in need during the holiday season. Activities to include Thanksgiving and Christmas Giveaways. The organization also sponsors Back to School and Easter Giveaways, and monthly food pantry distribution.
  6. Blessing In A Bowl Ministry – $4,000.00
    Blessing In A Bowl Ministry provides hot meals to individuals and families who are physically, mentally, of financially disabled. They attempt to assure anyone requesting or in need will be fed a nutritious meal.
  7. NJBC SEASONED SAINTS MINISTRY – $3,000.00
    The purpose of this ministry is to provide lunch, entertainment, and fellowship for elderly residents (65 years+) and disabled county residents two times a month. Take-home snacks are provided to supplement diets during the month. Health related information is also shared to help improve the quality of life.
  8. Southern Dolls – $2,500.00
    The purpose of Southern Dolls is to empower, inspire, and support junior high and high school girls through mentorship, scholarships, and enrichment activities. These activities include Personal Development Workshops, community service, and networking events.
  9. Brazosport Area Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Social Action Committee – $4,000.00
    BAAC Youth Symposium is a motivational and informative program for students to enhance their social skills. Students learn ways to interact positively with peers, adults, teachers, and future employers, to build confidence and self-esteem.
  10. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Gamma Kappa Omega Chapter – $2,500.00
    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., AGKO Chapter will address the issue of childhood hunger by implementing a local weekly service program focused on providing “power packs” for kids to eat over the weekend. “Power Packs” will include non-perishable food items for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. AGKO will deliver these weekly packs to 30 students.
  11. Noah’s Ark Children’s Transitional Care Foundation – $2,500.00
    Noah’s Ark Children’s Transitional Care Foundation is a Texas-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families through challenging life transitions. These transitions may include the journey from sickness to wellness, from life to loss, or from a typical to an atypical development. The foundation offers comprehensive support to ease the financial, emotional, and spiritual burdens that families face during these difficult times. Through its compassionate services, Noah’s Ark ensures that families are not alone as they navigate the complexities of grieving or caring for an ill, or recovering child.
