2022 MLKCC DRUM MAJOR AWARD ANNOUNCED
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee of Brazoria County, Inc. proudly presents the 2022 MLK Drum Major Award to Mr. Terry Gordon of Angleton Texas.
Each year the MLKCC recognizes an individual in Brazoria County whose life or work best exemplify the ideals of sacrificial service and leadership in achieving human dignity.
Mr. Gordon has worked diligently to support county residents for many years. He has worked to make a difference in our community. In 1986, he and two other co- founders of MLKCC searched for a way to honor Dr. King’s Legacy in our county. As a result, the MLKCC of Brazoria County was formed and local events were established to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King , in our county. Mr. Gordon always offer outstanding leadership in a variety of endeavors. As a Co- Founder of MLKCC, he has been committed to the success, stature, and legacy of this organization from the beginning. He is an active member of MLKCC where he serves as Vice President, Board Member, Diversity Committee Member, Grants Committee/Chairman and Program Committee Member. He currently serves as a Deacon, Trustee and Choir Member at First Missionary Baptist Church in Angleton, Laymen President of the Lincoln Southern District Association, Laymen Vice President of BM&E State Convention of Texas and an active member of Rho Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He always can be found donating his time, money, and efforts towards disaster relief, mentoring young black men and fighting for the underdog. Often, he can be seen volunteering with his fraternity brothers in the community.
He retired from Dow Chemical company after working for 36 years and continues to commit every day towards the common good of mankind.
Mr. Gordon is married to Attorney Faye Gordon, have two children, Jamila Gordon Hernandez (Brent), Sadiki Gordon, and two grand daughters Cadence & Chloe.
Our awardee continues to offer outstanding leadership in a variety of endeavors and truly deserves this award. We are proud to present our 2022 Drum Major winner – Mr. Terry Gordon.
