GERALD R. HOLLAND, Sr. was recently awarded the annual Drum Major award by the MLK CELEBRATION COMMITTEE (MLKCC) at our virtual program held on January 16, 2021.
Pastor Gerald R. Holland, Sr. is uniquely qualified to receive the MLK Drum Major Award because he epitomizes an extraordinary level of reliability and commitment to improving the living conditions for members of the Angleton community . As Pastor, of First Missionary Baptist Church and Executive Director of the Community Development Corporation , he has been an outstanding role model to our youth and works to advocate for youth across the Angleton Community. His active participation in FMBC Community Development Corporation’s After School Program provides a strong male leadership to the youth participants who are largely minority youth. Additionally, Pastor Holland is involved in civic organizations that not only keeps the community abreast of certain social injustices but offers inspiration and innovative solutions to help people overcome the barriers that may impede their access to resources that will help keep them safe and healthy where they live, work, and play. Finally, he has a very strong biblical study of God’s word and he inspires the community to be better neighbors one to another.
He is actively involved in the following civic organizations: Pearland MLKCC, Brazoria County NAACP, Brazoria County Chapter of Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.
